Our Philosophy and Symbol
The Yin Yang symbol, in red and white, symbolizes that through the passionate pursuit of truth and acceptance of ourselves and others we become true masters of life; for a moment anyway for a circle has no beginning, no end, and no half way point - we must always be ready to accept change. Finally the circle that encompasses all things, symbolises the invisible boundary or level of knowledge that exits at any given point of our existence. In order to have time to develop sufficient self awareness and self control we should be patient and give ourselves time to develop; to prepare for the next stage. The human paradox: emotion without control is chaos. Student Creed (3—5 yrs) I will only use my martial arts to defend myself. I will be good at school at home and in class. I will show respect to everyone. I will always say NO to strangers. Student Creed (6—12 yrs) I believe in myself, I can accomplish my goals, I believe in what I study, I am disciplined, I am ready to learn and advance, I show respect to everyone, I protect life and health, I avoid violence whenever possible, Why have a creed? Our student creed is not only a statement of a common set of goals or values that will serve community but a promise from the individual to themselves. It is a promise that they make that holds them to a standard that will inspire others to follow. A creed is not too dissimilar to catchy song or good TV commercial with one very important exception - it can be much more powerful as a creed is designed to give to the participant rather than to take from them. Because the creed is stated by the individual in their own voice their brain is much more ready to listen and accepting of the information. Repetitive violence, fowl language and negative thought experienced within certain songs, computer games and on television communicate to our brains in the same way. The catchier they are the better they are at programming our thoughts. Try feeling happy whilst listening to a sad song; difficult isn't it? Positive input equals positive results. How we see the world is how the world will be, whether it is based on truth or not. |
